The translation between Japanese and English is so much better now; back when Super Mario Brothers was packed in with each console, that wasn’t the case.

We still loved the games even if we sometimes could not figure out how to loose weight to ride an elevator, or how someone can feel asleep. It didn’t daunt our young minds, we still continued and ultimately beat these weirdly written games. I don’t remember people complaining about them either, not in any game magazine I read. It was just a fact of life: If we wanted to play good games, we had to deal with an odd translation or two…
