Some Positive Too Human Reviews
August 19th, 2008Too Human is getting a beating at the various game websites around the net. I thought I’d post some good reviews of the game, for those of you that might not have seen any:
From Planet Xbox 360:
After putting in nearly twenty hours with the title I have whole-heartedly decided that Too Human is a game that I really enjoy playing. Not only did the story pull me in but also the simple, yet intuitive, control scheme had me kicking ass for hours at a time. The one reason I kept coming back to it for a second and third play-through was the deep customization the game has to offer. It’s obvious that not every game journalist out there has the same glowing opinion of Too Human that I do but at the end of the day this job is about finding games that are fun to play and recommending those specific titles to our readers. For me Dyack’s masterpiece was just that game, even with all the disappointments along the way.

From Total Video Games:
Individual skill trees for each character class provide a considerable spectrum for character development, unlocking new abilities and bumping attributes considerably. Beyond the standard skill tree a second tree is unlocked later in the game based around an Alignment choice between Human or Cybernetic. Although this has little bearing on the plot or other characters, it does at least provide further areas for development and harks back to an influential quote from the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche’s Beyond Good and Evil along with the mocking Baldur receives from the other Gods that he shuns cybernetic technology, and is himself ‘too human’.

And last (But not least) From Play.tm:
For those doubting Too Human’s difficulty credentials based solely on its ridiculously easy demo, challenge scales up alongside character development and helps keeps each successive battle on just the right side of testing. That being said, watching an angelic golden Valkyrie gracefully lifting Baldur’s limp corpse towards Valhalla is something players should be suitably prepared for (especially when using the Berserker). Doubts about difficulty should also be put to bed upon learning that reaching the humiliating plateau of 100 player deaths even garners its own embarrassing Achievement called ‘Valkyrie’s Folly.’

I just want to say, in regards to all the controversy surrounding Too Human: If you enjoy it, go ahead and enjoy the game. Don’t worry what people have to say. I’ve even enjoyed a few lesser rated games/movies/books in my time. Who cares what people you don’t know think? As long as you like what your playing, just keep enjoying it. I say that to everyone, even those that like games I don’t particularly care about. I think we need to stop giving game critics so much reverence. In the end they are only human and what they say, no matter how many “facts” are used to support their position, are still just opinions. I figure that when the Apocolypse comes, all the game journalists will be the first ones to be fed to the zombies since we will have no other practical skills to help stem the tide of the coming darkness
Well Game Journalists, regular journalists, politicians, and Lawyers…
