More DS Reviews In Brief

How about another round of Ninten-do’s and don’ts.

Do’s:

Geometry Wars - Like Asteroids on crack. Cool music, interesting graphics, great gameplay and mechanics. If you want a tricked out, fast paced asteroids like game then Geometry Wars is for you. Making old school gaming fun again.

Zoo Tycon 2 - More of the same Sim based gaming you love. The game isn’t breaking any new ground and the graphics are dated but the controls are well done. It is what is it and does it reliably. If you want a portable version of Zoo Tycon then it fits the bill.

Maybe’s:

Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer - First let me say you need to know what you are getting. MD is an old school 16 bit classic rpg. The graphics and gameplay are very dated but it is true to the genre and does what it does well. MD: STW is a mixed bag because it is a GBA quality game but a well done one at that. I wouldn’t pay the suggested retail price of $29.99 but if you find it for $20 or less and looking for a classic rpg then it is a bargain.

Don’ts:

Rondo Of Swords - Not Atlus’ finest game. Boring gameplay, uber dated graphics/sound, mediocre quality and not worthy of the Atlus name.

Bleach: The Blade Of Fate - Poor excuse for a fighting game. Stale old mechanics, with GBA era graphics/sound and bad gameplay. The only fate for this game is clearance.

Command and Destroy - The title is as bad as the gameplay. I read a review before I played that said it was 1995 RTS era but I wouldn’t go that far. It’s crap and there is nothing there worth you even considering.

Hope these you steer clear of the junk and not get burned by poor programming.

-Wes
