Ultimate Mortal Kombat (DS)

November 19th, 2007

Though the Mortal Kombat series has been hit and miss for years, this particular game I’ve been waiting on for some time now.  I played Mortal Kombat for the original Gameboy to great disappointment and even more so with the version for GBA (horrible beyond words).  Ultimate Mortal Kombat has finally allowed me to check the box on my wish that someone would finally put an early version of MK on a handheld and get it right.

This game is a good port from the original Ultimate Mortal Kombat arcade and takes me back to the days when I played MK2 on SNES and MK trilogy on Psone.  I used to rule with Scorpion on all versions of MK…”Get over here!”.  But I digress.

UMK is a game long overdue for the hand held market and MK fans alike.  It is a good fighter for the DS and a nice addition to the already large library of games.  I must admit though, I get a smile on my face every time I here the “Whoopsy” cried out during a fight.  Cue techno music now.

I have to check this one out; I was very curious if it would be a good version of the games or a crappy one. I know the DS has the ability to make a good one, but that didn’t mean it would happen. Thanks for the heads up!
