Tech: IBM’s Lotus Symphony

October 4th, 2007

IBM has came out with a non-boring product surprisingly. It’s a free office suite consisting of a Word, Excel and PowerPoint like product and did I mention that it’s free? I downloaded it today and have been testing it out on a few machines. It’s a little sluggish on older machines but not so bad as to stop me from using it. Symphony is beautiful looking and much easier on the eyes than OpenOffice though built on the same code version 1.1.4. You can open and save Microsoft formats and perform your standard office type tasks. I found it very easy to use and think that it’s probably the first product that home consumers could gravity toward. If you are in the market for such a software package I highly recommend giving this a whirl. You can find it here. Enjoy.
